Our Horse Race Gambling Tournament Results

As tempting as the top money prizes may be in horse race gambling tournaments, Mr. Whitley is not a big fan of handicapping tournaments. This is primarily because these tournaments are today more about horse race gambling and taking the long shot in hopes to win big than they are about the skill and sport of horse playing. The general approach for most in these tournaments is "Hit the long shots and you are in!" In fact, many otherwise talented handicappers admit to simply betting "cap" horses in handicapping tournaments. This means betting on the horses that will pay over the "cap", which is normally 20-1. As a result, most modern day tournament winners are simply those horse race gambling individuals who are lucky enough to hit a cap horse or two.

Therefore, Mr. Whitley's involvement in tournament play was mainly centered around on the "social" aspect of the horse race gambling. In other words, he looked forward to the opportunity for interacting with some of the top horseplayers in the world. However, with the urging of friends, which was largely the Whitley Girls recognizing a need to show verifiable results, Mr. Whitley agreed to participate in a number of major horseplayer tournaments. The results of this horse race gambling can be seen below.

Horse Race Gambling: Mr. Whitley's Results

Mr. Whitley is a three time Daily Racing Form / NRTRA National Championship Qualifier and World Series Qualified Horseplayer. These tournaments are aimed to discover the true abilities of a professional horseplayer. Consequently, Mr. Whitley is the only horse race gambler ever to win consecutive major qualifying tournaments. This is a significant achievement as simply qualifying for a National Tournament or a Horseplayer World Series is in itself a great thrill and accomplishment. Typically, anywhere from the top 3 to the top 10 finishers in these horse race gambling tournaments will qualify for the year end national event, which brings together all of the qualifiers from an entire year. But to actually win one of these qualifying tournaments, is among one of the greatest accomplishments a horseplayer can hope for.

Mr. Whitley reached the coveted "top spot" in the Daily Racing Form / NTRA National Qualifying Tournament by winning the Ultimate Handicapping Championship Claiming Crown Day at Ellis Race Track. Then just 7 days later, he won the World Series Qualifier at Riverdowns Race Track. Another significance to note in each of these horse race gambling tournaments is that both tournaments had vastly different formats. This shows the versatility of our handicapping skills.

The Claiming Crown Day at Ellis Race Track

Our Horse Race Gambling Tournament Wins

The Claiming Crown Day Win at Ellis Race Track required participants to wager a fixed amount of a live bankroll and to wager on all of the live races that were held that day at Ellis Park. Mr. Whitley won this tournament comfortably by nearly tripling his original live bankroll of $1000 to $2780. Therefore, in addition to receiving a spot in the Daily Racing Form / NTRA National Championship, he also collected a first place check of $27,000.

Riverdowns World Series Qualifier Races

Only seven days after the Claiming Crown victory, Mr. Whitley won the Riverdowns World Series Qualifying Tournament. This tournament featured a wagering format that required the participants to make $2.00 win and place mythical wagers on 12 races that were preselected by the tournament director. Mr. Whitley once again won this tournament finishing ahead of the second place finisher by almost double the amount of winnings. In addition to winning a coveted spot in the Horseplayer World Series, this win also granted Mr. Whitley a check for $7000.

Survivor Tournament at Ellis Race Course

Another significant achievement for Mr. Whitley in these horse race gambling tournaments was winning first place in the Survivor Tournament at Ellis Race Course in Kentucky. This win again granted Mr. Whitley a place in the Daily Racing Form / NTRA National Championship. The first place check for this tournament was $8100
